Revoke or Renew the Bot's Key on Hyperliquid

Last checked against the product: 2026-10-19

The short answer

The bot trades through a limited key that Hyperliquid calls an agent wallet. You can switch it off yourself at any time, which is called revoking it, by approving a new agent on Hyperliquid with the same name, Hypertide. Hyperliquid replaces the old one. The key also runs out on its own after the number of days you chose. When it does, copying stops until you approve a new key. Your money stays in your own Hyperliquid account either way.

How long the key lasts

When you connect, you pick 30, 90 or 180 days, with 180 as the default. If you see an Advanced section on the connect page, the choice is there. When the time is up, the bot has no valid key, so it cannot place orders for you.

About 7 days before it runs out, you get a Wallet alert. In Telegram it arrives as a message. In the web app and the Mini-App it is in the bell on the Discover page. The alert tells you to send /start force_new_agent to the bot.

What happens to your copies when it runs out

The traders you follow are kept, and so are your settings. The bot just cannot sign anything. That covers new copies and also closing a copied position, so a trade the trader closes while your key is off is not mirrored.

Positions that are already open stay open on Hyperliquid. Check them there, and close any you do not want to keep. Trades the trader made while your key was off are not copied later, after you renew.

Renew in the bot

Send /start force_new_agent to the Hypertide bot. It replies with a connect button. Open it and approve in your wallet, the way you did the first time. Use the same wallet you connected before. Your follows and balance stay as they are.

If the key has already run out, plain /start also sends the connect button. If it has not run out yet, plain /start only tells you that you are connected, so use /start force_new_agent.

Renew on the web or in the Mini-App

Once the key has run out, open the app. Portfolio, Copy and Account are replaced by a screen titled Your trading approval ended. It says any traders you follow are kept and that you need to approve a new key. Pick how you want to connect and follow the page. On the web it opens the connect page in your browser. In the Mini-App, the Expert choice shows a button that opens the bot.

While the key is still valid, the Connections card on Account shows the date it is valid until and has no Renew button. To renew early, use the bot steps above.

When you finish, the app checks every few seconds and opens up again. The success message on the connect page talks about Telegram and adding money. If you were only renewing, you can ignore that.

Revoke the key yourself

Approve a new agent on Hyperliquid with the same name, Hypertide. Hyperliquid replaces the old one, and the bot's access is gone. That is enforced by Hyperliquid, not by us. We have not checked the steps in Hyperliquid's own app, so we do not list them here.

After you revoke, the bot cannot place orders for you. Hypertide may not notice at once, so the app can keep showing you as connected for a while. Your follows are kept. If you also want the copying to stop, unfollow the trader. Unfollowing leaves any positions already open in your account, for you to keep or close.

When Hyperliquid removes a key

Hyperliquid's documentation says agent wallets may be pruned when the wallet is deregistered, when it expires, or when the account that registered it no longer has funds. Those pages were read on 2026-10-19, and Hyperliquid may change them. If a key is removed, copying stops until you approve a new one, using the same steps as above.

What can still go wrong

While a key is valid, it can place trades, and a copied trade can lose money. A trader you follow can lose money too. Copies can also be skipped or fill at a different price. Renewing does not undo any of that.

What this page does not tell you

It does not tell you whether to keep copying, which length to pick or whom to follow. It describes the app as of 2026-10-19. More at hypertide.app/custody and hypertide.app/how.
